Wick Drains

Drains are geo-composites installed in low-permeable soils to reduce the length of the drainage paths and thereby reduce the time of consolidation.

Vertical drains can be driven into the ground statically or dynamically. In some very soft soils, water jets with the pipe mouth open or pipe drilling can be used. Where large areas of very soft soil have to be treated, the combination of wick drains and subsequent preloading offers a good, quick and economic solution.
